Welcome to Tyler and Parker Thompson's Blog

Tyler and Parker Thompson arrived on June 23, 2008 at only 26 weeks and 4 days old, weighing 1 pound 6 ounces (Parker) and 1 pound 10 ounces (Tyler). Parker spent 129 days (home 10/30/08) in the NICU, while brother Tyler spent 143 (home 11/13/08). We are thrilled to have our family complete with both boys home!

This blog was created by John (the daddy) to inform family and friends (and now new acquaintances) of the twins progression. Below is the blog archive dating back to the week Heather (the mommy) was admitted to the hospital. We try to post weekly updates, but on occasion the week gets the best of us.

Eight Weeks of a totally abnormal, stress-filled life with emotions riding the scariest roller coaster anywhere and a schedule that is not a real life. Living each day waiting for the real life. No one can know what it is like for you except those who have walked in your shoes. Bless your fragile hearts. Every day that you carry anxiety with you, it follows you to the hospital. May I make a suggestion for mommy and daddy? I have seen this work in the past. Buy out some time. Find a place close by in Sacramento where there is a peaceful scene...American River, Lake Natomas or some favorite place of yours. Walk together there, sit together for a while. Hold hands. Observe and absorb that energy and take that to the hospital with you. I know you pray - we all pray for your sweet family. Still, find a place to absorb some of God's creation and the love and energy in it and carry that...wear that to the hospital. Share it with your precious sons. Everyone will feel it when you walk in the room. Your sons will too. They will feel it when they see you and feel your touch. We know they feel your love. Let your sons feel your peaceful confidence and your joyful expectation. Yes, another suggestion that comes without really knowing your whole life circumstance but it is some thoughts I have been thinking lately.
I have followed the blog from the beginning and I continue with the hundreds of others who pray and send loving, positive thoughts your way every day. Karla

Poor Guy....Can't say I would like to have one of those contraptions on. I always wonder (and Glen is in the medical field developing respirtory devices)who comes up with some of these god awful medical device designs...whether they are young or old, some of the devices out there are like medival torture machines...enough said!

The pictures say so much....both boys are getting stronger daily. As parents you have given them the love no one else can...and they grow stronger in that love. No medical device can give them that strength!

Hang In there...it's a tough road but you are not alone...we all are keeping you and the boys in our thoughts and prayers!
