Welcome to Tyler and Parker Thompson's Blog

Tyler and Parker Thompson arrived on June 23, 2008 at only 26 weeks and 4 days old, weighing 1 pound 6 ounces (Parker) and 1 pound 10 ounces (Tyler). Parker spent 129 days (home 10/30/08) in the NICU, while brother Tyler spent 143 (home 11/13/08). We are thrilled to have our family complete with both boys home!

This blog was created by John (the daddy) to inform family and friends (and now new acquaintances) of the twins progression. Below is the blog archive dating back to the week Heather (the mommy) was admitted to the hospital. We try to post weekly updates, but on occasion the week gets the best of us.

Practicing Our Manners

Here are a couple videos of the Bubbies practicing their manners. They don't have a handle on spoken language but their sign language is progressing along - especially when they want something!

I know it looks like Tyler is coughing up a lung here, but I assure you he is fine. This is a daily activity, especially when he's sitting in his highchair with food smeared every where. He tends to get more "coughy" as the so-called eating session progresses. But he still needs to practice his manners, something in which he's extremely accomplished! The whining...not so accomplished. He needs to work on his fake crying a little more!

Parker is pretty good about trying new foods as long as he can feed himself. Try to put something in Parker's mouth - forget it! And he'll punish you the rest of the time by shaking his head "no" so you can't get any food near him. BUT he is drinking through a straw and can also drink via cup - but volume is really the challenge. Parker just can't take in a significant amount of calories to impact his weight. In this video he is pretty irritated because it's time to get down and he knows manners are a must!

What Bubbies Eat!

The boys know that meal time is serious business. Actually they know that highchair time can be a lot of fun, but sometimes mommy makes a lot of "doh" and "argh" sounds as she slaps her forehead with her hand.

Thank you Tyler but EAT the popsicle, don't just play with it!

Look at Parker eating his popsicle dipped in cheese sauce. Even though he eats very little, his taste is already culinary at it's finest!

Yes Tyler, watch brother...take note...copy action...get a clue...help prevent mommy's hand from slapping her forehead again!

Staying in on a stormy day - what to do?

Of course they've figured out that standing on their cars serves a much better purpose than riding them!

Maybe I should help Parker figure out that if he actually moved the car to the FRONT of the piano, he'd actually get to play MORE keys! Nah, I'll let him settle on the lower range for a while. ;o)

Tyler is picking up a few quick gambling games around the house.

Which cup is it under?

Tyler always congratulates himself...even before he actually finishes the game! Nothing like a little self induced positive reinforcement!

Family LOVE!

This past weekend was filled with LOVE and family as we celebrated the engagement of my little brother, Mikey and his finance, Velear. With family in town from the Bay Area and Oregon, it was inevitable that the Bubbies would get some quality attention. Sunday warranted a visit from the cousins, uncle Mikey and soon-to-be auntie Velear. The Bubbies were in full form, enjoying every bit of attention from family members, including Olivia, their dog cousin. Here are some cute pics and a video clip of the boys with their family.

Bride-to-be and soon-to-be auntie Velear with Tyler - opening a Valentine's Day card from her and Uncle Mikey.

Cousin Kyle with Parker (with his all-too-familiar "give me a break" face on).

Cousin Jillian with Tyler - hug hug...kiss kiss!

Uncle Mikey throwing a ball with Tyler, although Olivia is MUCH more excited about it!

Cousin Brandon and Tyler are forming trail signs with rocks. Early outdoor education is VERY important!

Cousin Jillian teaching Parker "camera basics"! Teaching moments are everywhere!

If only Tyler was showing his "plumber's crack", but this is cute anyway!

Tyler: "Wow, look at this piece of grass, it's sooo long! There's so much to see outside!"

Parker: "Am I the only sane one around here? Heeeeeeelp!"

Video of the boys visiting with Olivia - they aren't used to LIVE animals...obviously! Parker is so excited at the beginning of this video, just cracks me up! And watch Tyler imitate Jillian as she rubs Olivia's tummy...monkey see, monkey do!
