Welcome to Tyler and Parker Thompson's Blog

Tyler and Parker Thompson arrived on June 23, 2008 at only 26 weeks and 4 days old, weighing 1 pound 6 ounces (Parker) and 1 pound 10 ounces (Tyler). Parker spent 129 days (home 10/30/08) in the NICU, while brother Tyler spent 143 (home 11/13/08). We are thrilled to have our family complete with both boys home!

This blog was created by John (the daddy) to inform family and friends (and now new acquaintances) of the twins progression. Below is the blog archive dating back to the week Heather (the mommy) was admitted to the hospital. We try to post weekly updates, but on occasion the week gets the best of us.

Babies & Bumbos

Below are some fun pics of the boys in their new Bumbo chairs. They are the perfect size for the boys - they can practice sitting up and have little trays for their "goodies". Parker immediately "took" to his chair, but I think Tyler was looking for more action! Gotta love em!

Well, we've been dealing with Tyler sickness. John and I spent a couple of days collecting his poopie samples for a number of tests - one frozen, two in liquid and three smears. As I sat in my kitchen scooping up Tyler's smelly "goodies", I just had to take a moment and reflect - "So THIS is what my life has become?" Ha ha...it was QUITE amusing! John and Tyler went to the Pediatrician today after Ty's temp went over 100 degrees. The doctor didn't think Tyler picked up RSV (which was our concern), but said he might have a virus of some sort. Another stool test was done before they left and the doctor prescribed a couple of "booty" creams for Tyler's raw little bum. We should get most of the test results tomorrow at our GI appointment. Hopefully nothing BIG will come of them. Tyler may be teething - we hope that's why he's not feeling well.

Tomorrow is GI appointment and Friday we have another round of RSV shots for the boys and a pulmonology appointment. We hope the boys will be taken off oxygen permanently - we'll have to see!

Enjoy some funny Bumbo pics below!

"So what are you doing over there brother? Looks like you're having fun!"

The boys are so cute and your captions make me laugh. Hope Tyler is feeling better soon. I just thought about how you're going to have to go through two sets of teeth...my heart goes out to you. :)
