Welcome to Tyler and Parker Thompson's Blog

Tyler and Parker Thompson arrived on June 23, 2008 at only 26 weeks and 4 days old, weighing 1 pound 6 ounces (Parker) and 1 pound 10 ounces (Tyler). Parker spent 129 days (home 10/30/08) in the NICU, while brother Tyler spent 143 (home 11/13/08). We are thrilled to have our family complete with both boys home!

This blog was created by John (the daddy) to inform family and friends (and now new acquaintances) of the twins progression. Below is the blog archive dating back to the week Heather (the mommy) was admitted to the hospital. We try to post weekly updates, but on occasion the week gets the best of us.

Oxygen Free Boys!

Sleeping in a crib that daddy altered so they sleep at an agle. Their reflux is still bad enough that they don't lay flat at night.

Getting bundled up for doctor visits

"We love car rides...but we always end up being weighed at all of our stops - what's with that?"

Buckle up for safety!

Hurrah!!!! No More Oxygen!!
And Sleeping Upstairs! What a huge weekend at the Thompson’s.

Sorry that I may not be the best person to give sleep schedule advice since Christopher still doesn't sleep well and he's 29. The other two kids may have been wired up to sleep because we followed the same routine wash, read, lights out with them too but they actually did sleep. When the kids were 1-4 they slept 10-12 hours at night with a 1-2 hour nap each day. Christopher didn't sleep through until he was almost three and he never had a predictable nap schedule. I don't know if he even slept @ three but he was big enough for me to reason with him not to wake me any more. That number of hours of sleep came with a huge amount of outside play all day long. We lived in BC and I'd run them in the cold until they collapsed. No sleeping at the dinner table.
It sounds like you off to a great start with the routine.
You both are extraordinary parents. What lucky boys!

Hi Heather,

I realized I hadn't checked your blog in a long while. Your little guys are so adorable. The book I always recommend is Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child. It really helped me get both my girls on good sleep schedules. A good night's sleep and a good nap really make life so much better! I don't remember if there is a section on twins or not. It's not always easy, but once they're on a schedule, it's wonderful! Good luck and congrats again on your two cuties. --Laura (Stacy's friend) :)
